RB Advisors, Matt & Dan, Complete Semi-Annual Training Through Ed Slott & Company, LLC

Consistent with our core value of pursuing growth and continuous learning, our Ed Slott Master Elite IRA Advisor Group(SM) members, Matt and Dan, completed their semiannual training with America’s IRA Experts at Ed Slott and Company, LLC in Dallas, Texas earlier this month. The workshop provided in-depth technical training on advanced retirement account planning strategies, estate planning techniques and new tax laws, as well as a proactive look at legislation currently being considered by Congress that would bring significant changes to the way Americans plan for retirement.

“Right now, Congress is looking at two different bills that would dramatically impact key retirement planning strategies. Both the SECURE Act in the House and RESA in the Senate are gaining momentum, and it’s crucial that financial professionals are paying attention to these potentially major changes,” mentioned Ed Slott, CPA, founder of Ed Slott and Company and a nationally recognized IRA expert who was named “The Best Source for IRA Advice” by The Wall Street Journal. “As members of our advanced training program, Dan and Matt are part of an exclusive group of elite financial professionals that have continuously prioritized their retirement planning education. With this ongoing training, they can better educate Richmond Brothers’ clients on these proposals and can offer the latest insight on how best to prepare for any necessary updates their financial plan may need.”

Training highlights from this event included: Key 2019 tax planning strategies such as estate and gift exemption planning, qualified business income deduction planning and qualified charitable distributions; evaluation protocols for recommending an IRA rollover; advanced IRA estate planning and tax planning for special needs beneficiaries; recharacterizing IRA contributions; a look at tax court cases that ruled on the disability exception to the 10% penalty; 5 key rules for doubling 2019 contributions; a look at advanced IRA case studies and rulings including ERISA protection lost after an IRA rollover, IRA bankruptcy protection, inherited IRAs and divorce, IRA trusts and more.

The laws surrounding retirement and tax planning are constantly changing and as financial professionals, it can be difficult to stay on top of the latest policy changes. Dan and Matt’s membership with Ed Slott and Company help provide confidence that they are up-to-speed on the latest retirement laws and strategies. It also gives them access to a team of IRA experts should they need advanced support to help clients navigate difficult and unique financial planning situations.

Ed also stated that: “Some of the biggest proposed changes Congress is considering is repealing the maximum age for IRA contributions and raising the age for required minimum distributions from 70.5 to 72. While these changes would make it easier for Americans to grow their nest egg, it’s also crucial they are working with an advisor that is privy to the latest retirement planning laws and strategies. The members of our organization are well-trained, qualified professionals that prioritize both their ongoing education as well as your individual needs.”
