Matthew J. Curfman, CFP®
President and Co-Owner
One of the youngest candidates to become a Certified Financial Planner™, Matt received his securities license before graduating from Eastern Michigan University. As a team member of Richmond Brothers since 1998, Matt showed his ambition and passion for helping clients realize and achieve their retirement dreams by working his way from high school intern up to President and co-owner.
Matt collaborates with our President, David Richmond, in the preparation of portfolio allocation and research, as well as comprehensive financial plans. Together they create custom retirement strategies to help clients address their problems, help ensure they don’t outlive their savings, show them ways to protect their principal, and help them give less to Uncle Sam. As a member of Ed Slott’s Master Elite IRA Advisor Group™, Matt maintains continuous training in effectively managing the distribution of assets from retirement accounts in the most tax efficient manner possible.
Matt has excelled in all that he has done, be it graduating in the top 10% of his college class, competing in a marathon or “urbanathlon”, or completing several century (100 mile) rides on his bike. As part of the Jackson community he grew up in and loves, Matt has supported the Jackson YMCA’s Partner for Youth Campaign, served on the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Tony Open Golf Tournament committee, and has been active as an ACS Relay for Life team member. He is also an active sponsor of The Lingap Children’s Foundation and serves as a board member for the Jackson YMCA. Matt was featured in Jackson Magazine’s “30 And Under” Class of 2009 and has contributed to articles in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, and The Fiscal Times, among others.
